Universe Without Purpose

Recently I've had several conversations about objective morality, a subject I haven't really wrestled with before. I wish I had more time to blog, as I've had a lot of thoughts on it that I'm afraid I won't be able to recall once I do get a chance. Pity, I don't have time right now, but this image seemed related and I found it a little bit comforting.

  1. I love Lawrence Krauss. He wrote a book about quantum physics, explaining how a universe from nothing is actually possible, despite what our default human assumptions would be.

  2. I have been thinking about this to, though for quite a while. I've actually come to the same conclusion as Krauss, in a way. The absence of absolute morality is beautiful, because the universe is beautiful and that is how the universe is. To be scared is to kind of go alone with the Christian talking-point of "How come you atheists don't rape people?"

Does it make things more complex? Yes. Does it make coming to conclusions about my own and others' actions more difficult? Yes. But it is a puzzle that I take delight in, because it is a puzzle of the universe.

  3. I think this is much more close to reality.
