In my ideal America, retailers would absolutely be
allowed to be open Black Friday, but they wouldn't bother because so few people would choose to shop over the Thanksgiving holiday. Stores would be as empty as they are when everyone gets snowed in. People who work with the public would get the time off to spend with their families, unless they
volunteered to work the holiday, just to have minimum coverage.
The same goes for Christmas day, by the way.
